Wars of the Seven Kingdoms Update #10 – Fuck it, 4k+ Events

Hey all,

The title is only sort of a lie.

While I initially was just going to think of 100 events off of brainstorming alone, I realized it was straining my mental capacity to think of things that would occur in a fantasy setting. Then, I had a eureka moment: what if I was going about all this wrong? What if instead of making up events so I could connect attribute effects to them, I had the attribute effects first and then used them to make up the events?

So, that’s what I did. I standardized the event logic (a check, which follows either a gain or loss) and then printed out every single combination for all the modifiable attributes in the game. It gave me a list of 4,096.

While I can tell you there will most certainly not be 4,096 events in W7K, it will at least make getting to the 100 easier. Now all I got to do is look at the line (Check disposition, Wisdom on success and Charisma on failure) and see if I can write an event to it. If I can’t, that combo gets deleted. And I have 3,906 combos worth of padding, so I can be very delete happy. Pretty simple stuff now!

(P.S., I posted the script I used to get my output here: https://github.com/astuka/w7k_combinatorics)
